February Meeting - Michael Amoia, JD, LL.M. (Tax) - Why Real Estate Requires "Real" Estate Planning
As Vice President, Advanced Markets at Valmark Financial Group, Michael advises a select group of financial professionals, their clients and their clients’ legal and tax advisors on implementing advanced wealth transfer and business planning strategies. A former practicing attorney specializing in trusts and estates, Michael has 28 years of experience working with the complex estates and planning techniques of many of the country’s wealthiest families, and has a unique understanding of the tax- and non-tax issues that cross multiple jurisdictions and disciplines.
Prior to joining Valmark, Michael was Senior Vice President of Advanced Sales at one of the largest independent life insurance distributors in the country, where he led a team of attorneys that advised independent financial advisors and institutional clients.
A frequent speaker at Estate Councils around the country and the NAEPC Advanced Estate Planning Strategies Conference, his articles have been published in Estate Planning, Trusts and Estates and The Journal of Taxation.
Michael received his law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law, and his LL.M. in Taxation and Certificate in Estate Planning from the Georgetown University Law Center. He is a graduate of George Mason University with a BS in Economics.
